Am I Blind?
by Mike Schultz
There is so much before me, and so much more behind,
With all the time a day may hold in the here and now.
There are more dreams than dreamers. Am I blind?
Walking among nature’s charms soothes me somehow
As I wander the hills and pastures of wild field flowers,
With all the time a day may hold in the here and now.
In the clouds that drift so gently, weeping in showers
Over feral gardens and the graves of unknown soldiers,
As I wander the hills and pastures of wild field flowers,
An elder woman sells flowers, but we may hold hers
More as garnishments for tables and inside viewing.
Over a feral garden and the graves of unknown soldiers,
I walk slowly, reverently, my senses alive, I’m enjoying
The richness that abounds about me – sun, soil and air.
More as garnishments for tables and inside viewing,
I pick my hands full of long stems and flowers, so fair.
There is so much before me, and so much more behind,
The richness that abounds about me – sun, soil and air.
There are more dreams than dreamers. Am I blind?
